ALTOP won the bid again of Melbourne landmark building

In September 2019, our company won the bid for the new landmark building Normanby in Melbourne, which is located in 199 Normanby Road, Southbank, Melbourne. This is a 40 Floors multi-purpose building, adjacent to the center of Melbourne, with excellent geographical advantages and unlimited development potential. The building was designed by the famous designer DKO Architecture, and the emergence of Normanby in the rising town of Fisherman Bend undoubtedly adds a dazzling new landmark to this city.

The building is 122.83 meters high, the total area of the curtain wall is about 11,000 square meters. The main systems include tower unit glass curtain wall system, skirt building frame curtain wall system, skirt building window wall system, sliding door system, partial aluminum curtain wall system, etc.

The biggest highlight of this project is the 3D panel, which is also the key and difficult point of this project. The main part is the Podium G-Floor to the 6th floor and the Tower 20th Floor to the roof, accounting for about half of the total number of curtain walls. Due to the panel face material partitioned in many different forms, and the tilt and three-dimensional surface and other structural reasons, the aesthetic treatment of the details of the splicing parts of the visible members of the unit panel is with much high requirements. For the shaped panels, the component parts of a single unit panel are various, and there are many assembly, insertion and matching relations, profile processing is complex, assembly is difficult, and the installation accuracy requirements are higher, need to respond to the needs of assembly and installation efficiency.

In addition, the joints of the special-shaped panel system and the water proofing surface turns to more, the waterproof line is complex, around the glass frame the insulated rock wool layout space is limited, the rock wool layout is difficult.

In order to solve the above difficulties, our company adopts the overall modeling of the full three-dimensional design model, the new design of the drainage system and waterproof sealing line, is completely different with the traditional unit curtain wall. The 3D panel LED light belt runs through it, and the three-dimensional effect is formed through the joining of different angles, fully displaying the modern urban atmosphere and the cultural roots of Spain, which is refreshing.

With the development of the construction industry, building modeling requirements are more and more, such unit curtain wall will also be more presented. Only mastering the key points in the whole design and construction process, elaborate planning, effective use of computer simulation, professional measurement and testing, the project could be completed to the customer satisfaction. ALTOP will keep pace with the times and continue to take on more challenges.
